Meet the Founder

Flossy & Pure was founded by Jess Ortega, a Qualified and Practicing Oral Health Therapist with a passion for preventative, whole-body oral health.

Jess graduated with a Bachelor of Oral Health Therapy from the University of Newcastle in 2017 and has spent years working closely with patients and families. Through her clinical experience, she saw a growing demand for oral care products that were gentler, more transparent and better aligned with overall wellbeing.

Having always taken a more holistic approach to health, Jess struggled to find a toothpaste she felt truly happy recommending to her own family, friends and patients. This led her to look beyond the front of the packaging and delve deeply into what was actually inside the toothpastes we use every day.

She began researching ingredients such as SLS and exploring how certain ingredients may affect the delicate balance of the mouth and overall gut health. At the same time, Jess noticed parents purchasing multiple toothpastes for one household, one for the adults, another for the children and worrying about their little ones getting hold of the adult toothpaste or swallowing too much.

Jess knew there had to be a simpler, more thoughtful way.

Combining her professional knowledge with more than two years of extensive ingredient research and product development, Jess created Flossy & Pure: a clean, effective and beautifully considered toothpaste made with the whole family in mind.

Every ingredient has been thoughtfully selected with a clear purpose and genuine intention. Nothing is included simply because it is expected or conventional. Flossy & Pure represents a more transparent approach to everyday oral care, one that supports healthy smiles while considering the connection between oral health and whole-body wellbeing.

It is more than toothpaste. It is oral care created by a clinician, inspired by families and made with care, for every smile, at every age.

I created Flossy & Pure because I couldn’t find a toothpaste I truly felt comfortable recommending to families, something gentle, microbiome-friendly, and safe for everyday use. My goal was simple: create oral care that works with the body, not against it.
